New Heights 10th Anniversary

Our 10th Anniversary was much more than a mere date on the calendar June 1st 2006. It was a joyous celebration of the incredible achievements over the years. New Heights Educational Group has been relentlessly overcoming obstacles to achieve our mission of helping students and families achieve their goals and dreams. It was also a celebration of our dedicated volunteers who support our cause and give so much to the community.

Volunteers:

  1. Who is the first volunteer for NHEG?
    Pamela Clark June 1, 2006, followed by Margaret Spangler and Pat Carr and Roberta Perkins. Of course this has been a family affair, with the families from these individuals participating as well.
  2. Who is the recent joint person to volunteer for NHEG? (Can you also put the date please):
    Venkata (Ramana) Ayyagari 2/18/17 program developer.

Events of NHEG:

  1. When do you give out the presidential awards?
    Normally during our annual recognition day or when a volunteer has earned them and requests them.
  2. When is Enrichment Day?
    Enrichment day is planned annually and schedule is set by participating families.
  3. When is graduation day for the students?
    This is another event that is planned annually and schedule is set by graduates and their families.
  4. When does prom start?
    NHEG is affiliated with multiple proms in their area and one in Michigan, which is a riverboat cruise. The date is set by groups that oversee these proms. There are three proms in the surrounding areas that homeschool students can attend..
  5. Is there a recognition day for volunteers?
    Our annual recognition day is for students, parents recognizing their students, teachers, tutors and volunteers.

Students of NHEG:

  1. What do students win at contests?
    It depends on the contest and how many people enter. Our intent is that receive a portion of the entry fees paid. (So cash and a certificate of recognition)
  2. What if a student fails a class?
    No one has ever failed a class; if someone did they could simply retake. We really haven’t faced this issue.
  3. How many memberships does NHEG have?
    We don’t have memberships; people enroll in our services. On average we provide services to between 30 – 60 students locally (one to two classroom full of students) and online services the number is in the thousands.

  1. What does NHEG promote?
    NHEG promotes educational choices for everyone and makes sure that all families have the educational resources to help them reach their goals. The key to this is their willingness to work to better themselves. We can’t do it for them, but if they are willing to work for it we provide them with the resources they are missing.
  2. Who is Florence Decker?
    She is the founder/executive director, Pamela’s maternal grandmother, and raised Pamela during her formative years. She once said that “Time spent on a child is never wasted.” This was during an interview with the Lima News. Florence believed in standing up for what you believe in and advocated for what she believed in during her lifetime.
  3. Where is NHEG located?
    Defiance, Ohio is where the NHEG home office is. It holds nonprofit status in the state of Ohio, and its mission and services reach all over the United States and the world.
